Two-time welterweight beltholder Paul Williams is being considered for a bout with WBC junior middleweight titleholder Saul Alvarez in September.
Guerrero opponent replaced again
|
Jackson Asiku, who had replaced Johnnie Edwards, pulled out late Thursday night because of an injury. He was replaced by Efren Hinojosa, an experienced 37-year-old Mexican-born fighter who lives in Lakeside, Calif. Hinojosa (30-5-1, 17 knockouts) started his career 23-0 and has some recognizable names on his resume. However, he’s only 7-5-1 (with one no-contest) since. He has lost three of past four fights, winning only by disqualification over Jose Reyes in his last outing. Guerrero is coming off the most-painful setback in his career, a no-decision against Daud Cino Yordan. The fight was stopped in the second round after Guerrero suffered a deep cut above his eye. Afterward, he was accused of quitting because he was asked by the referee whether he could see and he said he couldn’t. Guerrero took the criticism hard and vowed to redeem himself. |
