Floyd Sr.: Pacquiao on steroids

LAS VEGAS -- Floyd Mayweather Sr. reiterated that he believes Manny Pacquiao has taken steroids even though he has no proof.

Mayweather, who was in the opposite corner when Pacquiao fought Ricky Hatton, bases his speculation on the punching power the Filipino icon has displayed as he has moved up in weight, particularly his one-punch KO of Hatton in the second round.

It took Floyd Mayweather Jr. 10 rounds to stop Hatton.

“Pacquiao … one shot … I don’t know,” Mayweather Sr. said in the media center set up for his son’s fight against Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday. “Why, if he hits so hard that he got Ricky with one punch, why didn’t Marquez go anywhere in two fights?

“Everybody will find out what he took and they’ll say, ‘Floyd Mayweather was right.’”

Pacquiao has passed all drug tests in Nevada, according to Keith Kizer of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Still, Mayweather, who said he’s heard others suggest Pacquiao takes steroids, won’t waver.

“They have drugs they can hide (from drug tests),” he said. “They don’t show up. Believe me when I tell you, he’s going to get caught.”

Who would’ve acquired the steroids for Pacquiao?

“Maybe Freddie the Joke Coach Roach,” said Mayweather, referring to Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach.

Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, reportedly has denied that his fighter takes steroids.

“All Manny’s on is white rice,” Roach told fanhouse.com.
