Taylor remains in hospital

Jermain Taylor reportedly remains in a Berlin hospital after his one-punch knockout loss to Arthur Abraham on Saturday.

Taylor was being held for tests after suffering what promoter Lou DiBella called a “severe concussion,” according to ESPN.com. The Little Rock, Ark., fighter apparently didn’t know afterward in what round he suffered the knockout.

The fight, the first of the Super Six Boxing Classic, ended with six seconds remaining.

"He has severe concussion," DiBella told ESPN.com. "He also had some short-term memory loss and, in the interest of being completely safe, he'll be in the hospital probably for several days.

"They believe the area of his head that was hurting him was from his head hitting the canvas. He'll be in Berlin for another week because the doctors didn't want him to fly, but his wife and mother are with him."

DiBella said it’s too early to determine whether Taylor will remain in the tournament after his third knockout loss in five fights.

"Jermain's health is paramount," DiBella said, "and whether he continues in the tournament or not is not a decision that has to be made right this second. He suffered a bad knock out."
