Ring Ratings Update: No movement

Four rated fighters stepped into the ring over the weekend -- Anthony Mundine, Hugo Cazares, Ulises Solis and Pongsaklek Wonjongkam -- and all were victorious.

However, their activity was not enough to change the ratings whatsoever.

The only question was whether to keep Mundine in the middleweight ratings even though he made his debut at 154 pounds on Wednesday, outpointed Carlos Adan Jerez in Australia.

Mundine, rated No. 7 at 160, is staying put for the moment.

“We’re going to keep Mundine ranked at middleweight, even though he did make the junior middleweight limit in his last fight,” said Ring Managing Editor Joseph Santoliquito. “We’re going to take a wait-and-see approach with Mundine in regards to the 154-pound class. If he proves he can consistently make the weight, then we’ll re-evaluate his status at 160. The exit from 160 doesn’t automatically mean Mundine would be ranked at 154. That has to be earned with quality victories at 154 before Mundine merits consideration there.”
