Marquez scores one-sided decision over Diaz

LAS VEGAS -- Juan Manuel Marquez has plenty left.

THE RING lightweight champion bounced back from his one-sided loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. by easily outpointing Juan Diaz in their rematch Saturday night at Mandalay Bay.

Marquez, who fought Mayweather at welterweight, was fit and sharp at a more-natural 135 pounds and as fierce as ever.

Diaz, who was stopped by Marquez in the ninth round in their first fight, fought more cautiously to avoid Marquez's counter punches but didn't do enough offensively to win.

Marquez took advantage of every opportunity to land hard, crisp combinations throughout the fight.

The Mexican won by scores of 116-112, 118-110 and 117-111.
