Lateef Kayode, the cruiserweight prospect from Nigeria, stopped journeyman Ed Perry of Lafayette, Ind., in the sixth round of a scheduled 10-round fight Friday in Santa Ynez, Calif.

Kayode (15-0, 14 KOs) won a decision in his pro debut and had KO'd every opponent since.

Perry (18-5-2, 11 KOs) had never been stopped in his six-year career. He also had never been down but hit the canvas twice on Friday, once when he took a knee in the fourth and again when he was counted out in the sixth.

Kayode trains with Freddie Roach in Hollywood, Calif.
