Huerta-Hirales headlines Jan. 28 'Solo Boxeo'

The eight-round bout and the co-main featuring 2008 U.S. Olympian Gary Russell Jr. will be televised by Telefutura begining at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT (10:30 p.m. CT). Huerta (16-1, 8 knockouts), an aggressive boxer-puncher from Paramount, Calif., has won five in a row since his lone loss to fellow prospect Derrick Wilson in 2009. Hirales (11-0-1, 7 KOs) is a standout amateur who competed for Mexico in the World Junior Championships and the Pan American Games. Russell (13-0, 9 KOs), an undefeated featherweight prospect from Washington DC will make his 2011 debut against an opponent to be named in an eight rounder. In 2010, the the super-fast southpaw scored seven victories (six by knockout), including a first-round stoppage of former titleholder Mauricio Pastrana in July. |
