Middleweight beltholder Peter Quillin could soon defend his WBO title against promotional stablemate Danny Jacobs.
Breaking news: Which Klitschko will Adamek fight?
So which Klitschko will Tomasz Adamek be fighting?
A reliable source told RingTV.com that Adamek will face Wladimir Klitschko in September. And Adamek himself has been quoted as saying that Wladimir will be his opponent.
However, it was announced Tuesday by Main Events that Adamek will face either Wladimir or Vitali Klitshcko at a new soccer stadium in Poland.
That was confirmed by Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, the Klitschkos' promotional firm.
The final decision on which of the brothers will fight Adamek apparently won’t be made until after the Klitschkos‘ interim fights.
The Klitschkos and Adamek are all scheduled fight before September. Vitali defends his heavyweight title against Odlanier Solis on March 19 in Germany. Wladimir defends his world championship against Dereck Chisora on April 30. And Adamek also plans to take a stay-sharp fight in April.
If both Klitschkos were to lose, a fight with Adamek would not take place. If one were to lose, Adamek would face the victorious brother. If both brothers win, they would decide which will face Adamek.
The fight will take place at the stadium that will host European soccer championship games. Poland and Ukraine are organizers of the tournament.
"Adamek is very experienced, fast and a hard punching opponent,” Vitali Klitschko said. “Whether it is Wladimir or me, we have to be very concentrated during the entire fight. It is fantastic that a Polish and a Ukrainian boxer will be together in the ring to set the first sports highlight in the run down to the EURO 2012.”
Adamek, a former light heavyweight and cruiserweight titleholder, is thrilled that he’ll have the opportunity to face one of the brothers, the most-dominating figures in the division.
"I am very happy,” he said. “I would like to thank the Klitschkos for being very generous with the percentage offer. I am looking forward to this fight. It doesn't make a difference to me which Klitschko I fight. Right now they are both the biggest stars in the boxing world and I want to fight the biggest stars. I'm grateful for the opportunity."
