The Tomasz Adamek-Kevin McBride fight will take place on April 23 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., RingTV.com has learned. Adamek (43-1, 28 knockouts) and his handlers considered staging the event in the fighter’s native Poland but decided on the Prudential Center, where Adamek has fought six times. This is a tune-up fight for Adamek, who has agreed to face one of the Klitschko brothers in September, although which one hasn’t been determined. McBride (35-8-1, 29 KOs) is best known for stopping Mike Tyson in six rounds in 2005, Tyson’s last fight. The Irishman isn’t considered a threat to Adamek, though. McBride is 6-foot-6 (198cm), which means Adamek will have one more opportunity to get used to fighting a tall opponent to better prepare for a Klitschko. McBride had lost four consecutive fights until narrowly outpointing Franklin Egobi in October. |
Heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek will fight veteran Kevin McBride on April 23 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., Adamek's home arena.
