Marco Antonio Barrera stopped 43-year-old journeyman Jose Arias at 2:29 of the second round Saturday in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Barrera (67-7, 44 knockouts) put Arias (15-2, 9 KOs) down with a left hook in the first round and again with a barrage of blows early in the second. Arias then had no answer for another flurry and the one-sided fight was stopped.

Barrera, 37, is now 2-0 since he was stopped by Amir Khan in March 2009.
