altJunior lightweight prospect Eloy Perez dominated Roger Gonzalez to an eight-round unanimous decision in the main event of a Solo Boxeo Tecate broadcast Friday from San Francisco.

Unbeaten junior lightweight prospect Eloy Perez notched his 20th victory with a shut-out unanimous decision over former contender Roger Gonzalez in the eight-round main event of a Telefutura-televised card from San Francisco on Friday.

Perez (20-0-2, 5 knockouts) was the faster, busier and more aggressive fighter en route to winning the brisk boxing match by unanimous scores of 80-72. The 24-year-old resident of Salinas, Calif., consistently beat Gonzalez to the jab, which he used to set up quick body-head combinations.

Gonazlez, a well-schooled veteran of 30 pro bouts, had his moments in the third and fourth rounds, but Perez stepped up his pressure over the second half of the bout and often forced the 32-year-old boxer to the ropes.

Perez, who is nearing a shot at the WBO 130-pound title, bloodied Gonzalez's nose in the eighth round.

In the co-featured bout of the Solo Boxeo Tecate broadcast, San Diego-based Filipino prospect Mercito Gesta lived up to his "No Mercy" nickname by relentlessly beating familiar foe Genaro Trazancos to a third-round technical stoppage.

Gesta (21-0-1, 11 KOs), who stopped Trazancos in the seventh round of a shomewhat competitive bout last August, brutally dominated the veteran trial horse in their rematch. The 23-year-old lightweight southpaw landed blazing-fast combinations to the body and head of Trazancos (22-14-1, 13 KOs). The 36-year-old Mexican journeyman absorbed head-snapping uppercuts during a punishing third round. The beating was severe enough for the ringside physician to halt the bout between rounds.
