altThe promoters of the Andre Berto-Victor Ortiz fight on April 16 are still looking for a site. Carson, Calif., Las Vegas and Atlanta are among the possibilities.

The Andre Berto-Victor Ortiz fight on April 16 is looking for a home.

The fighters and their representatives have agreed on terms but Lou DiBella, Berto’s promoter, characterized the fight as “90 percent done” until he and co-promoter Richard Schaefer find a site.

Schaefer, who has reserved the Home Depot Center's 7,500-seat outdoor tennis arena in Carson, Calif., is waiting to hear from DiBella.

“I’m waiting for Lou to communicate to us what the site would be,” he said. “I hope that will happen this week because time is running out. We are holding the Home Depot Center. I think the fight fits nicely there.

“It’s a world championship fight. I think the fans in Southern California would embrace it.”

DiBella said he expected to settle on a site by Friday. He said sites in Las Vegas and Atlanta are also being considered.

“The problem is that almost every building in the country is not available the week before Easter,” DiBella said. “I’m waiting on a few more places. I’ll know by the end of the week.”

Berto (27-0, 21 knockouts) will be defending his WBC welterweight title against Ortiz (28-2-2, 22 KOs) , who is moving up from junior welterweight.
