Breaking news: Pascal, Michel reach agreement on Hopkins rematch
|
Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, said he has been informed that Jean Pascal and promoter Yvon Michel have agreed on terms for a rematch with Bernard Hopkins on May 21. Hopkins and Golden Boy already had an agreement in place for the fight, which will be for Pascal’s RING and WBC light heavyweight titles. All that remains to seal the deal is finding a site. “I hope to settle on a site this week,” said Schaefer, Hopkins' promoter. “… It looks like it’s going to be in Canada, most likely either Montreal or Quebec City. There’s an outside chance it could be in Los Angeles or Atlantic City (N.J.). We’ll see.” Michel did not return phone messages. Pascal (26-1-1, 16 knockouts) and Hopkins (51-5-2, 32 KOs) fought to a controversial majority draw on Dec. 18, after which the WBC ordered an immediate rematch. |
