Saul "Canelo" Alvarez apparently has the confidence of the fans. Now he must validate their support in the ring.

Alvarez is the runaway leader in the latest RingTV Poll, in which we ask: Who is the next Mexican star? As of Monday afternoon, the red-headed sensation in his native country had received 57.3 percent of the votes.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was next at 19.5 percent, followed by Alfredo Angulo at 9 percent, Abner Mares at 8.5 percent and Giovani Segura at 5.7 percent.

Alvarez (35-0-1, 26 knockouts) faces Matthew Hatton (41-4-2, 16 KOs) for the vacant WBC junior middleweight title Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Neither fighter has fought for a major title.

Daniel Ponce de Leon faces Adrien Broner in a 10-round junior lightweight bout on the undercard. The card is on HBO, beginning at 10:30 ET (live) / PT (delayed).
