Vitali Klitschko would replace brother Wladimir if the latter is unable to fight David Haye this summer because of a nagging abdominal injury, the Klitschkos’ manager told Sky Sports.

Wladimir Klitschko cited the injury when he pulled out of his fight against Dereck Chisora, which was scheduled for April 30.

Vitali Klitschko is scheduled to face Odlanier Solis on March 19.

"It could also be Vitali," Boente told Sky Sports. "In the talks, David was not rejecting Vitali any more, he was very flexible.”

Bernd Boente also said the fight won’t necessarily take place in Germany, although he did rule out England and the United States.

The fight is set for June 25 or July 2, depending on the site. Stadiums in the German cities of Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen and Kaiserslautern have expressed interest in hosting the event.

"It really depends on the different stadiums, because not all of the three mentioned could do July 2,” Boente said. “But those dates are agreed by the Hayemaker side and Sky. But there are two or three other options that we are exploring in other countries. Honestly, that is only to maximize revenues.

"In the end it is not about home advantage or whatever. That is a key understanding between Adam (Booth, Haye's manager) and myself. Adam is with me in the driving seat, we will discuss these things together.

"I can't tell you where they are but they are all in Europe, but they are all in Europe, but not England. Las Vegas and the United States was never an option because this fight has to be prime time in Europe, especially because the fight is pay-per-view. It will be around 10.15 p.m. English time, 11.15 p.m. German time. That is what we are looking for."

That translates to 2:15 PT / 5:15 p.m. ET in the U.S.
