altThe fans indicated overwhelmingly in our latest RingTV Poll that they believe Andre Ward is the best super middleweight in the world, with Lucian Bute second.

Who is the best super middleweight in the world?

We asked that question in our latest RingTV Poll. And the answer was fairly conclusive: Andre Ward. The young American received 49.6 percent of the votes among six candidates as of Wednesday evening, when we changed polls.

Lucian Bute, who fights Brian Magee on Saturday in Montreal on Showtime, was second with 30.1 percent.

The other four candidates were well back.

Carl Froch, who fights Glen Johnson in his Super Six World Boxing Classic semifinal on May 21, received 11.0 percent of the votes. Mikkel Kessler garnered 3.5, Dirrell 3.0 and Johnson 2.7.

Ward, who fights Arthur Abraham in his Super Six semifinal on May 14, is favored to win the tournament.

If he does, the question – Ward or Bute? – probably will be answered more definitively in ring.
