altJunior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan stopped Bladimir Hernandez in the second round of their scheduled 10 rounder on the undercard of the Lucian Bute-Brian Magee fight on Saturday.

Vanes Martirosyan gave up four pounds at the weigh-in to Bladimir Hernandez, then made him pay Saturday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, dropping him for a 10-count in the second round of scheduled 10-rounder.

Martirosyan (29-0, 18 knockouts) opted to fight his overweight opponent at middleweight after Hernandez (18-5, 16 KOs) tipped the scales Friday at 158 pounds, failing to make the contract weight for junior middleweight.
The bout took place on the undercard of the Lucian Bute-Brian Magee super middleweight championship fight.
Elsewhere on the undercard:
 * Junior welterweight prospect Pier Olivier Cote (15-0, 10 KOs) scored a first-round knockout against Michael Lozada (37-8-1, 30 KOs), a bout that was ended by the three-knockdown rule.
 * Super featherweight Benoit Gaudet (24-2, 10 KOs) took a six-round technical decision from Adrian Verdugo (14-4-1, 11 KOs) after a clash of heads caused a cut on Gaudet. Scores were 58-56 and 59-55 twice.
 * Viorel Simion (13-0, 5 KOs) survived his toughest challenge, winning an eight-round split decision over Pedro Navarette (25-11, 14 KOs) at featherweight. Judges favored Simion 75-73 and 76-72, while the other scorecard went to Navarette 75-74.
 * Bantamweight contender Sebastian Gauthier (20-2, 13 KOs) knocked out Jovanny Soto-Ramirez (29-14-1, 23 KOs) in the second round.
