Nate Campbell has reconsidered his November decision to retire from boxing and plans to return April 9 against unbeaten Danny Garcia, one of the rising stars of the junior welterweight division.

Campbell (33-7-1, 25 KOs), once the unified lightweight titleholder, will take on Garcia (20-0, 14 KOs) in a 10-rounder at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, part of the Erik Morales-Marcos Maidana undercard. The fight will be part of an HBO pay-per-view telecast.

"I was missing the ring," Campbell told ESPN.com. "I just kept working out, kept training. I was going to the gym like I always had. I'm a gym rat. I was sparring. There was no pressure. I was able to do my thing."

Campbell, 39, is the father of a 21-year-old daughter and also is a grandfather. Garcia celebrated his 23rd birthday on Sunday.
