Salgado stops Morales in third round

Jose "Sugar" Salgado tore open the corner of Everado Morales' right eye of early in the fight, then battered him into submission in the third round of their super flyweight fight Saturday at the Interactive Museum in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. The show was a collaboration between Canelo Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions. Salgado improved to 24-1 with his 21st knockout. Morales dropped to 34-16-1, with 23 KOs. In the co-featured bout of the Televisa broadcast, unbeaten bantamweight prospect Leo Santa Cruz (15-0-1, 7 KOs), of Lincoln Heights, Calif., stopped Stephane Jamoye (21-3, 10 KOs), of Belgium, in the sxith-round of their WBC world youth title bout.
