A Saturday press conference is in the works for smack-talkers Adrien Broner and Paulie Malignaggi.
Adamek easily outpoints McBride, ready for a Klitschko
|
Heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek dominated a plodding Kevin McBride to win a near-shutout decision Saturday in Newark, N.J. Adamek (44-1, 28 knockouts) won by scores of 119-108, 120-107, 119-108, meaning he lost one round on two cards. The Pole, who lives in New Jersey, has now secured a fight with one of the Klitschko brothers in the fall. Wladimir Klitschko is scheduled to fight David Haye on July 2 if he has recovered sufficiently from a stomach injury. If he can't fight, then Vitali Klitschko will fight Haye, and Wladimir Klitschko will fight Adamek. McBride (35-9-1, 25) is known for stopping Mike Tyson in Tyson's final fight but, at 37, the Irishman has neither the skills nor the speed to contend with a fighter as good as Adamek. McBride lost a point in Round 7 for excessive holding. |
