Raul Garcia (30-1-1, 18 knockouts) of Mexico stopped Rommel Asenio (20-3, 16 KOs) of the Philippines at 2:52 of the third round to retain his strawweight title on Saturday in Mexico City. On the same card, Ramon Garcia, Raul’s brother, stopped Jesus Geles (12-2-1, 5 KOs) of Colombia to win a junior flyweight title. Geles had defeated Garcia by a split decision for the interim title in February. Both were WBO titles. In Texcoco, Mexico, Adrian Hernandez (21-1-1, 13 KOs) of Mexico took countryman Gilberto Keb Baas’ (35-21-4, 22 KOs) WBC junior flyweight title with a 10th-round TKO. Hernandez stopped Keb Baas in four rounds in 2008. In Buenos Aires, Ulises Solis (33-2-3, 21 KOs) of Mexico defeated Luis Lazarte (48-10-2, 18 KOs) of Argentina by a split decision in a rematch to take Lazarte’s IBF junior flyweight title. The fighters drew in December. Solis held the IBF belt from 2006 to 2009. And, in Petchburi, Thailand, Thepparith Singwancha (16-2, 10 KOs) of Thailand narrowly outpointed previously unbeaten Drian Francisco (20-1-1, 16 KOs) of the Philippines in a 12-round junior bantamweight bout. |
Raul and Ramon Garcia won title fights, Adrian Hernandez took the belt of Gilberto Keb Baas and Ulises Solis regained a title with a victory over Luis Lazarate in a rematch on a busy Saturday.
