Dispute over ticket allocation won't threaten Klitschko-Haye fight

Fears that David Haye’s world heavyweight title clash with Wladimir Klitschko on July 2 could be wrecked by a ticketing dispute appear unfounded.

Fears that David Haye’s world heavyweight title clash with Wladimir Klitschko on July 2 could be wrecked by a ticketing dispute appear unfounded.

Both fighters canceled scheduled press conferences this week in Hamburg, Germany, and London allegedly because of a row over the quality of seats Haye’s fans have been offered at the 57,000-capacity Imtech Arena in Hamburg.

At the moment, Haye’s huge army of supporters can only buy the cheapest seats but, while the British fighter is determined to get them a better deal, he insists there is no danger of him pulling out.

“The fight is on, but the Klitschko brothers are giving me a headache over the tickets for my travelling fans,” Haye told the Sunday Mirror. “I'm not going to roll over and let them get their way. I want a fair allocation and at good prices.”

Meanwhile, Sky Sports, which hold the UK television rights for the long-awaited title-unification showdown, is also confident the problem will be resolved.

And, in another promising sign that the fight will go ahead as planned, the two postponed press conferences have been re-scheduled for next week.
