Embattled Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been named in a lawsuit filed by a Las Vegas nightclub bouncer who says a bodyguard for the boxing superstar choked and battered him in January, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

A lawyer representing Clay Gerling filed the suit last week in Clark County District Court, naming Mayweather, his companies and an unnamed bodyguard in a complaint charging that Gerling was assaulted Jan. 2 at Drai's, located at Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon on the Las Vegas Strip, the newspaper reported.

The suit states that Gerling, employed as a security guardat the club, was grabbed and choked by a member of Mayweather's entourage after he asked the group for identification.

The complaint alleges that Gerling suffered head and neck injuries that may be permanent, as well as extreme and severe mental anguish.

Mayweather's attorneys have not yet responded.

The suit, filed by Las Vegas attorney Donald Kudler, is seeking unspecified general and punitive damages, reimbursement of medical expenses, and reimbursement for past and present lost earnings for Gerling.

The incident is the latest of several legal brushes for the unbeaten prize fighter, who also has pending court dates for an assault on a security guard outside his gated community, threats against two security guardswho ticketed his cars, and domestic violenceand grand larcenycharges stemming from a skirmish with a former girlfriend who is the mother of his children.
