Lightweight prospect Mike Perez stopped Ira Terry at 2:19 of the third round in a scheduled eight-round bout Friday in Salinas, Puerto Rico.

Lightweight prospect Mike Perez stopped Ira Terry at 2:19 of the third round in a scheduled eight-round bout Friday in Salinas, Puerto Rico.

Perez, a one-time amateur star from Newark, N.J., whose familiy comes from Puerto Rico, put Terry down in both the second and third rounds in a dominating performance.

Perez (13-0-1, 7 knockouts) has stopped four of his last five opponents.

Terry (24-5, 14 KOs) has now been knocked out in his last three fights. He is from Memphis, Tenn.
