Former heavyweight beltholder Sergei Liakhovich will take on undefeated Finnish contender Robert Helenius on July 1 in Germany.

Former heavyweight beltholder Sergei Liakhovich will take on unbeaten up-and-comer Robert Helenius this summer in Germany, Main Events confirmed today to bokser.org.

Helenius (15-0, 10 knockouts) will fight the former WBO belt holder July 1 at a venue to be determined -- most likely Max Schmeling Halle in Germany. The 27-year old Finn knocked out Samuel Peter in nine rounds in April.

Liakhovich (25-3, 16 KOs) won the WBO crown from Lamon Brewster in a 12-round barnburner in 2006, then lost the belt five months later to Shannon Briggs. He has beaten Evans Quinn and Jeremy Bates in his two most-recent bouts
