Lightweight contender Jorge Linares stopped Adrian Verdugo in the seventh round of a scheduled 10-round fight Saturday in Mazatlan Mexico. Linares (31-1, 20 knockouts) has won four consecutive fights since he was stopped in one round by Juan Carlos Salgado in 2009. The Venezuelan in a former two-division titleholder. Verdugo (18-5-1, 15 KOs) was a late replacement. In the main event, Mexican prospect Pedro Guevara (14-0-1, 10 KOs) fought to a split-decision draw with Mario Rodriguez (10-6-4, 7 KOs) in a 12-round junior flyweight fight. Each fighter led on one card and third judge scored it a draw. |
