Overwhelming majority of readers say Lara beat Williams

Erislandy Lara is the runaway winner among readers who took part in the RingTV.com poll: “How did you score the Paul Williams-Erislandy Lara fight?” as of Tuesday evening.

A convincing 81.4 percent indicated that the Cuban should’ve been awarded the decision, which went to Williams on Saturday in Atlantic City, N.J.

The majority of those who tabbed Lara as the winner scored it 116-112 (29.1 percent). That was followed by 117-111 (24 percent), 118-110 (15 percent) and 115-113 (13.3 percent).

Only 11.1 percent thought Williams won. The majority who scored it for him had it 115-113 (4.1 percent), followed by 118-110 (2.6 percent), 116-112 (2.5 percent) and 117-111 (1.9 percent).

A sizeable number of readers – 7.3 percent – scored it a draw.

The official scores were: 114-114, 115-114 and 116-114.
