Burns to face Katsidis in November
Junior lightweight contender Ricky Burns has vacated his WBO 130-pound title to campaign at lightweight, where he expects to face 135-pound contender Michael Katsidis in November.
Ricky Burns, having vacated the WBO junior lightweight title over an inability to make the 130-pound limit, will now face Aussie Michael Katsidis for the interim WBO lightweight belt in his home city of Glasgow, Scotland, on November 12.
The 28-year-old Burns (32-2, 9 knockouts) had been due to make a fourth defense of his junior lightweight crown in November against the undefeated American Adrien Broner.
"I'm happy and relieved Ricky is relinquishing the title because constantly having to make the weight was taking its toll," said Burns' manager Alex Morrison on STV. "We've had confirmation through from Frank Warren's people that Ricky will now face Katsidis in November."
