Video: Dawson interview and workout

Former light heavyweight titleholder Chad Dawson discusses his relationship with recently reunited trainer John Scully and his challenge to champ Bernard Hopkins this Saturday in Los Angeles.

RingTV's Doug Fischer interviewed Chad Dawson at a recent media workout for the former light heavyweight titleholder's challenge to champ Bernard Hopkins this Saturday in Los Angeles. THE RING's No. 3-rated light heavyweight discussed his relationship with recently reunited trainer John Scully and his desire to return to his old, aggressive style of boxing.

Dawson had this to say about his special rapport with Scully: "He's known me since I was 10. He worked my corner in a few amateur bouts. He trained me early in my career. Every time I've been with him it's been nothing but success."

On what Scully has brought to this camp: "My jab. Using my height and reach. He's bringing back my energy and (higher) punch output."

On his recent performances and his desire to beat Hopkins: "I had lost the hunger. I got it back for this fight. I've been dreaming of this fight for weeks. I want to start knocking guys out again. I'm going to show that I'm the hungrier athlete (against Hopkins)."
