LAS VEGAS -- On the un-televised undercard of the Pacquiao-Marquez III fight, welterweight Dennis Laurente's straight left hand to the chops floored Ayi Bruce at the MGM Grand Garden Arena for a seventh-round knockout.
In scoring the 20th stoppage of his career, Laurente, of Palompon, Philippines, rose to 38-3-4, dropping Bruce of Albany, New York, to 13-5.
Rising junior welterweight Jose Benavidez Jr. (14-0, 12 KOs) of Phoenix, Ariz., easliy decisioned Sammy Santana (4-5-2) of Carolina, Puerto Rico.
In the opening bout, junior bantamweight Fernando Lumacad (25-3-3, 12 KOs) of Manila, Philippines, scored knockdowns in the second and fifth rounds of his unanimous eight-round decision over Joseph Rios (10-6-2, 4 KOs) of San Antonio.
A featherweight clash ended with Victor Pasillas of Los Angeles winning his professional debut by a four-round unanimous decision over Jose Garcia (0-4) of King City, Calif.
