In an article that ran in the December 1967 issue of THE RING, boxing icon Jack Dempsey picked Joe Frazier to eventually fill the heavyweight title vacancy created when the WBA stripped Muhammad Ali of its belt following his refusal to be drafted into the U.S. military. Perhaps the former heavyweight champ saw seomthing of himself in Frazier's relentless left-hooking pressure style.
