The first loss of Joe Frazier's career was one of the most crushing defeats ever suffered by a reigning heavyweight champion.
His shocking second-round knockout to George Foreman in Kingston, Jamaica on Jan. 22, 1973, was the cover story to the April '73 issue of THE RING, which is represented here as part of RingTV.com's ongoing tribute to Frazier.
Despite the brutally one-sided nature of the bout, Frazier's dogged determination and willingness to get up from each knockdown (six in all) earned it THE RING's Fight of the Year honors for 1973.
