On the Cusp: 10 fighters poised to make major breakthroughs in 2012

THOMAS DULORME
Weight class: welterweight
Age: 21
Record: 13-0 (10 KOs)
Region: Carolina, Puerto Rico
Skinny: The rangy boxer-puncher recently emerged as one of Puerto Rico’s brightest young talents with his 10-round decision over DeMarcus Corley on a Friday Night Fights card in June. Dulorme, who dropped the faded but still capable former 140-pound beltholder in the third round, followed that impressive victory with a nine-round decision over Charlie Jose Navarro in October. Dulorme easily handled Navarro, a 32-year-old Venezuelan veteran who was coming off a close and competitive 12-round decision loss to undefeated WBA welterweight titleholder Viacheslav Senchenko.
Strengths: Excellent technique… poise… power in both hands… height (5-foot-10) and reach… sharp jab, crisp hook and strong body attack… good balance and footwork.
Weaknesses: Sometimes neglects his defense by over-committing to offense.
