RingTV.com: What is the your understanding of the tournament situation?
Juan Manuel Marquez: Lamont Peterson is the proposed opponent. I don't know what's going to happen with the fight right now. My promoter tells me that maybe my next fight is going to be in Dallas Stadium.
I feel very happy because you know that I want to fight. I want to fight with Peterson. But I don't know what's going to happen. The promoter tells me maybe Dallas Stadium.
RingTV.com: What are your thoughts about fighting in Dallas Cowboys Stadium?
JMM: I feel happy because in Dallas, I believe that there are a lot of Mexican people, and I would be fighting for my fourth title [over as many different weight classes.]
RingTV.com: Are you a free agent?
JMM: No, I don't have a contract right now, maybe in the next week or within the next 15 days, I'll sign the contract for the fight.
RingTV.com: So you do have a contract with Fernando Beltran, but not with Top Rank?
JMM: Yes, because you know, Fernando is my promoter in Mexico. But maybe it is the same, because Fernando is working with Top Rank.
RingTV.com: If you defeat Peterson, will you get Pacquiao next?
JMM: Maybe. Yesterday, I had a meeting with Fernando, and I want to fight with Peterson, but then, I want to fight with Manny Pacquiao again. I want to sign a contract that will give me a chance to fight Manny again, do you understand?
I told Fernando that I will only sign the contract if you give me the fight with Manny. I want sign the Peterson contract if you want to give me that fourth fight with Manny Pacquiao.
RingTV.com: If you were to beat Peterson, and Bradley defeats Pacquiao, would you then fight Bradley?
JMM: Peterson and Pacquiao are great opponents. I would need to train for that first fight with Peterson and I'm not sure about the future after that.
But if Bradley beats Pacquiao, yes, it would fight him, because this is like a tournament. It's like a tournament. The winners fight the winners.
RingTV.com: What has to change for the judges to give you the decision over Pacquiao in a fourth fight?
JMM: Maybe the pressure that I put on him. The pressure and the being more aggressive. Maybe this is the factor. Everybody knows Pacquiao is a great fighter.
But maybe with more aggression, if we fight again, I need to use more intelligence, because intelligence is the more important thing in a fight. Everybody knows what happened on Nov. 12, at least the fans know.
The people know that I won the fight in November. But it was the judges. I don't know what happened with the judges. I don't know what fight they saw. I don't know what fight the judges were watching.
RingTV.com: Given the strength that you gained while working with Hernandez in your last fight with Pacquiao, do you feel that you will be even stronger over the next two fights?
JMM: Yes. I will continue with Hernandez and with the doctor and my trainer and conditioner. I will continue with those people. They were all very important for me in my last fight.
RingTV.com: Do you think that you can knock him out?
JMM: Maybe. Maybe it's the aggression. Maybe I will show that pressure in the fight with Peterson in the future. But the judges, I tell you again, I don't know what else to do.
I showed you and a lot of people that I won the fight against Pacquiao. I beat Pacquiao three times. But maybe in the future, I will knock out Pacquiao.
