Donaire aims for June defense

Nonito Donaire is aiming to make the first defense of the WBO junior featherweight belt against an opponent to be determined on June 16, his manager, Cameon Dunkin, told RingTV.com. Donaire (28-1, 18 knockouts) won the belt earlier this month by split decision victory over Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (21-2-1, 18 KOs), earning his third crown over as many weight divisions. Dunkin said that it is unlikely that targeted opponent, Jorge Arce, will be available, although Donaire's promoter, Top Rank CEO, Bob Arum, has mentioned that WBO bantamweight beltholder and others such as WBC junior featherweight titleholder Toshiaki Nishioka, of Japan, and WBA junior featherweight beltwinner Guillermo Rigondeaux as potential opponents for Donaire. "We will find somebody who will make him look good. It will be a title defense," said Dunkin. "We're going to go over some things with Nonito to see what he thinks and then we'll go from there."
