Then, Puerto Ricans wondered what all of the hype had been about. Now, Lopez can restore their faith if -- and only if -– the commitment to his craft has been restored.

That includes some attention to defense, so often sloppy and virtually forgotten in the last outing against Salido, who was knocked down twice in his last fight.

In San Juan, Lopez has an advantage, yet also a burden of proof. The guess here is that he will confront that burden, knock it and Salido aside.

Juan Manuel Lopez W 12 Orlando Salido: I pick JuanMa Lopez. It is a situation where the first time around, he may not have had all his bearings together being that he was going through the ugly divorce and also had an eye on a fight with Yuriorkis Gamboa.

Things like that can really mess up your concentration. You never need to end up with ...tough times, and you definitely never need to be overlooking a guy as dangerous as Orlando Salido. Salido is the real deal, and his track record proves it.

He turned pro at a very young age, and amassed a lot of his losses then. Since then, he's gotten some big wins, the one over JuanMa being the biggest. But he's had others as well. He's also been robbed once or twice in fights where he would have more big wins on his record.

Styles make fights. Salido, I believe, will never make it easy for JuanMa. But a more focused Lopez with revenge on his mind takes it on points, I believe.
