altManny Pacquiao on marriage: "It should not be of the same sex so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah of Old."

On Feb. 15 of last year, WBO welterweight titleholder Manny Pacquiao met President Barack Obama and First Lady Michele Obama during a White House luncheon with his own wife, Jinkee.

The meeting was just before Pacquiao's unanimous decision over Shane Mosley in May of last year, and Obama informed the Filipino superstar that he was rooting for him.

But during a recent interview with the National Conservative Examiner, Pacquiao opposed Obama's support of gay marriage.

"God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, only if they so are in love with each other," said Pacquiao, according to a report by Yahoo!Sports. "It should not be of the same sex so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah of Old."

Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 knockouts) was recently listed at No. 4 by Forbes.com among America's Top 10 most influential athletes behind Denver Broncos' quarterback Peyton Manning, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts, and ahead of the New England Patriots' QB Tom Brady.

Pacquiao's spiritual advisor, Pastor Jeric Soriano (pictured above), recently has visited him during workouts at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, Calif., where he is preparing to defend a 15-bout winning streak that includes eight stoppages against WBO junior welterweight beltholder Tim Bradley (28-0, 12 KOs) on June 9.
