Paul Williams was critically injured in a Sunday morning motorcycle accident outside of Atlanta, it was widely reported by various news agencies on Monday afternoon. 

The former two-time welterweight titleholder, who was scheduled to fight Saul Alvarez in September, will likely be paralyzed from the waist down due to severe spinal injuries, according to early reports.

George Peterson, the trainer and manager of Williams (41-2, 27 knockouts), told WRDW-TV in Augusta, Ga., the fighter's hometown, that the 30 year old will undergo surgery to stabalize the healthy upper half of his spine on Wednesday.
