CARSON, Calif. -- Nonito Donaire unified two junior featherweight titles by defeating Jeffrey Mathebula by a unanimous decision on Saturday at the Home Depot Center.

Donaire, who held the WBO title going into the fight, had difficulty getting through Mathebula's long left jab but was successful enough to win rounds. The American clearly landed the bigger punches.

Donaire (29-1, 18 knockouts) put Mathebula (26-4-2, 14 KOs) down with a left hook in the fourth round seconds before the bell to end the round.

Mathebula, from South Africa, held the IBF title.
