Danny Garcia stopped Amir Khan at 2:28 of the fourth round to win THE RING junior welterweight championship Saturday in Las Vegas.

Khan was winning the fight when, in the third round, Garcia landed a huge left to the neck of Khan, which put the Briton down and hurt him badly. Khan seemed to survive only because the knockdown occured very late in the round.

Garcia (24-0, 15 knockouts) came out in the fourth to finish the job, landing one hard punch after another and putting Khan (26-3, 18 KOs) down twice more. However, Khan showed tremendous courage by fighting toe-to-toe and getting in his own shots.

After the final knockdown, though, referee Kenny Bayless looked into the eyes of Khan and decided enough was enough and stopped it.

Garcia, the WBC titleholder, also won the WBA 140-pound title.

A full report will follow shortly.
