altGeorge Dodd, the executive director of the California State Athletic Commission, has resigned. The final boxing event supervised by Dodd will be the Roberto Guerrero-Selcuk Aydin headlined card on July 28 in San Jose, Calif.

George Dodd confirmed reports to RingTV.com on Wednesday that he has resigned as executive director of the California State Athletic Commission, a move that will go into effect on July 31.

Dodd said that he notified the CSAC's board of his intentions, a decision that comes two weeks after having been censured for mishandling the finances of the agency which regulates mixed martial arts and boxing in California.

"It's time. I've already given my date of resignation. My last day will be the 31st of July," said Dodd. "It's been an honor to serve the athletic commission and the people of the state of California."

Dodd told RingTV.com that his final boxing event will happen on July 28, when  Robert Guerrero takes on unbeaten Selcuk Aydin for the WBC's interim belt from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., near Guerrero's hometown of Gilroy.

"During my two and a half years as the executive officer, we've never had a fighter spend an entire night in the hospital with a serious injury, so I'm proud of that record," said Dodd.

"I'm sure that the training that was provided for over the two and a half years from well-qualified officials is what contributed to that."
