Guerrero defeats Aydin by a one-sided decision
|
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Robert Guerrero defeated tough, but crude Selcuk Aydin by a one-sided unanimous decision in a 12-round welterweight fight Saturday at the HP Pavilion. Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 knockouts) beat Aydin (23-1, 17 KOs) to the punch from beginning to end, both outboxing and outworking his Turkish opponent. Aydin landed some solid punches, particularly during rough inside fighting, but wasn’t active enough to keep pace with Guerrero for most of the fight. The judges scored it 117-111, 116-112 and 116-112. THE RING scored it 117-111. Guerrero, who has moved up two weight classes, never hurt Aydin but proved he can take a punch from a strong 147-pounder. Guerrero is from nearby Gilroy, Calif. A full report will follow shortly. |
