Undefeated featherweight prospect Ronny Rios stopped game veteran David Rodela in the ninth round of an entertaining Solo Boxeo main event in Indio, Calif., on Saturday.

After going tit for tat with Rodela during the evenly and hotly contested early rounds, Rios (19-0, 9 knockouts), of Santa Ana, Calif., made a mid-rounds surge and eventually overwhelmed the 30-year-old Oxnard, Calif., native along the ropes in the ninth. Referee Jerry Cantu called a halt to the slugfest at 1:14 of the round.

Rodela (16-7-3, 7 KOs) remained on his feet but was unable to defend himself against the 22-year-old prospect's onslaught.

In the co-featured bout of the Telefutura broadcast, former two-time lightweight titleholder Julio Diaz (39-7, 28 KOs), from nearby Coachella, Calif., stopped Colombia's Henry Aurad (14-5-1, 11 KOs) in the fifth round of a welterwieght bout.
