Manager Arellano and Ortiz resolve issues

Manager Rolando Arellano has informed RingTV.com that he and former welterweight titleholder Victor Ortiz have reached "an amicable," yet "confidential" resolution after the former WBC welterweight titleholder had refused to pay him for services provided relating to Ortiz's Showtime-televised ninth-round knockout loss to Josesito Lopez on June 23 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

"I can't discuss any of the details, because we agreed in a written agreement that we wouldn't," said Arellano, who had filed for an arbitration hearing with the California State Athletic Commission against Ortiz.

"We're just cool with each other. Victor is doing his thing and I'm doing my thing and that's that. I'm actually probably scheduled to go and meet with him face-to-face sometime this week."

Ortiz (29-4-2, 22 knockouts) suffered a broken jaw against Lopez and has since parted ways with trainer Danny Garcia.

Arellano said that he "negotiated an $800,000 purse for" Ortiz for the bout against Lopez, and that Ortiz earned a career-high $2.2 million for his fourth-round knockout loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. that dethroned Ortiz as WBC welterweight titleholder last September.

Ortiz, 25, was to face unbeaten WBC junior middleweight titleholder Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in a Showtime-televised clash on Sept. 15. But instead of Ortiz it was Lopez who was stopped in the fifth-round by Alvarez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

In other news, Arellano said that he looking to sign Brazil's Olympic boxing brothers, middleweight Esquiva Falcao Florentino, and light heavyweight Yamaguchi Falcao Florentino, winners of silver, and, bronze medals, respectively, in the London Summer event.

"Brazil had not won a boxing medal in 42 years. So I'm going to Brazil and I believe that we can doo something with them," said Arellano. "I'm going to bring build them in Brazil, becauseinice that we can build. Then I'll bring them to the United States."
