Undefeated lightweight prospect Jose Pedraza dominated late replacement Tevin Farmer to an eighth-round stoppage in a ShoBox: The New Generation main event in St. Charles, Mo., on Friday.

Pedraza (11-0, 7 KOs) began the night cautiously but by the middle of the second round the native of San Juan, Puerto Rico took control of the fight. In the third round, Pedraza imposed himself on Farmer (7-4-1, 1 KO), who never quite recovered but was still game through the bout.

In the eighth round and final round, the Philadelphia native threw a punch that connected with Pedraza’s elbow and injured his left hand. Referee Celestino Ruiz stopped the fight 47 seconds into the round as Pedraza sent a flurry of body shots to finish off Farmer.

In the co-feature bout of the live Showtime broadcast from Ameristar Casino, Lamar Russ (11-0, 7 KOs), of Wilmington, N.C., registered an impressive first-round knockout over previously undefeated Jonathan Cepeda (12-1, 11 KOs), of Jersey City, N.J.

The quick fight ended at 1:45 of the opening round when Cepeda was unable to recover from a devastating straight right to the top of his head. Cepeda beat the count but wobbled around the ring once on his feet, forcing referee Mike England to wave the bout off.

On the undercard, former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor (31-4-1, 19 KOs) knocked out Raul Munoz (21-16-1, 16 KOs) in the second round of their scheduled 10 rounder. Taylor dropped the roly-poly journeyman twice in the first round before measuring him with a straight right that laid him out flat on his back.

Referee Mike England called the fight at the 1:05 mark of the second round with Munoz on his back.
