Garcia, Morales make weight for their rematch

Erik Morales, who was expected to struggle to make the junior welterweight limit, weighed in at 139.2 pounds for his rematch with RING/WBC/WBA 140-pound champ Danny Garcia, who tipped the scales at 139.8 for the main event of a stacked Golden Boy Promotions card at Brooklyn' s Barclays Center tomorrow.

The two junior welterweights engaged in a heated staredown after the weighin with Garcia doing all of the yelling. Morales recently drew the outrage of Garcia and his trainer-father when it was widely reported that the Mexican legend had tested positive for a banned substance that is often used for weight-cutting by athletes. Morales claims that the substance, Clenbuterol, may have entered his system from contaminated meat that he ate in Mexico.

USADA, the anti-doping agency that conducted the drug test, will examine a "B sample" of the former champ's blood to make sure Morales failed it. However, results of that sample won't be ready until after the fight. Team Garcia opted to go on with the fight, which the young champ, who beat Morales by decision in March, believes he will win by knockout.

"I'm hyped, I'm ready to go," Garcia told Steve Farhood of Showtime, which will televise the main event on Saturday. "I told (Morales) 'I'm going to destroy you' (during the staredown)."

Malignaggi weighed in at 146.2 pounds for the first defense of his WBA welterweight title against Cano, who came in almost a pound and a half over the 147-pound division limit at 148.4. Cano had one hour to make the weight, otherwise the title will not be on the line for him.

"I saw he looked kind of big," Malignaggi, a Brooklyn native, said of Cano. "But it happens. I think he'll make weight I think he'll be fine and I'm bringing the same gameplan to beat him tomorrow night. I've waited my whole career for a fight like this in front of my home town. Brooklyn stand up!"

N'Jikam weighed 159 pounds for his WBO middleweight title defense against Quillin, who weighed 159.2 for his first title shot.

Bailey weighed the welterweight division limit of 147 pounds for the first defense of his IBF title against former 140-pound beltholder Alexander, who weighed 146.8.
