Golden Boy strikes arena deal in South Florida

Golden Boy Promotions has struck a deal with the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla., to bring professional boxing to the Southern part of the state.

Golden Boy and Sunrise Sports and Entertainment announced a deal on Wednesday today under which they have partnered to produce at least four live boxing events per year from the BB&T Center as part of a new boxing series.

"We are thrilled and honored to partner with an incredible athlete and entrepreneur such as Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions," said SSE President Michael R. Yormark. "We believe that together we can take live professional boxing to the next level in South Florida."

During each of the shows, there will be a guest appearance by a boxing legend, in accordance with the announcement. The date, main event, undercard fights, guest boxing legend and single event ticket information for the series' inaugural event are expected to be announced soon.

"At Golden Boy Promotions, we are committed to bringing boxing to fight fans across the country, and this new partnership is further proof of this," said Oscar De La Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions.

"South Florida has traditionally been a hotbed for boxing, and we are excited to have a new home with Michael Yormark and the BB&T Center."
