Featherweight prospect Jayson Velez remained unbeaten with a dominant third-round stoppage of Salvador Sanchez II on the Miguel Cotto-Austin Trout undercard in New York City on Saturday.

Velez (20-0, 15 knockouts) landed 50 percent of his power punches (65 of 131), according to CompuBox, en route to dropping Sanchez twice -- in the second and third rounds -- and forcing referee Harvey Dock to stop the fight 38 seconds into the third.

Sanchez (30-5-3, 18 KOs), the 27-year-old nephew of late great former featherweight champ Salvador Sanchez, had a decided edge in experience but was clearly outclassed from the start of the fight.
