Michael Koncz on Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao: "If the fans still want to see this fight, we're willing to do it."
Broner's back on HBO on June 22, Chavez likely June 29

In an e-mail to RingTV.com, Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer reconfirmed that the match between undefeated WBC lightweight beltholder Adrien "The Problem" Broner and WBA welterweight titleholder Paulie Malignaggi will happen at Barclays Center on June 22. During the Bernard Hopkins-Tavoris Cloud post-fight press conference, Schaefer told the media that the clash between Broner and Malignaggi will happen on HBO, which conflicted with an assertion that Top Rank CEO Bob Arum made in a video on FightHype.com that former WBC middleweight beltholder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will return on HBO on the June 22 date. Click here for Schaefer's video interview. However, Arum amended his statement late Thursday evening, telling RingTV.com that Chavez would return "on June 22 or 29; wherever HBO wants to put us." When informed of Arum's original comments, Schaefer responded, "Bob who?" Last month, Chavez was fined $900,000 and suspend him for nine months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for testing positive for marijuana use after of his unanimous decision loss to RING champion Sergio Martinez last September in Las Vegas. The fine represented 30 percent of Chavez's $3 million purse and the suspension began from the date of his fight with Martinez, which meant it ends on the morning of June 16, a Sunday. With that in mind, Arum elected to make Texas the return for Chavez. Arum would like to have a November or December rematch for Chavez against Martinez, who will face unbeaten British contender Martin Murray on April 27 in his native Argentina on HBO.

It appears that Adrien Broner will fight Paul Malignaggi on HBO on June 22 and that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will return on the same network on June 29. It was thought that Broner and Chavez were targeting the same June 22 date.
