Cano out of Perez fight
Pablo Cesar Cano is out of Friday night's fight with Manuel Perez due to a bout with the flu.
Mexico's Pablo Cesar Cano, who is coming off October's split-decision loss to WBA welterweight titleholder Paulie Malignaggi, has pulled out of Friday's scheduled main event with Manuel Perez due to a severe flu and high fever, promoter Golden Boy announced on Thursday.
As a result, the super middleweight bout between Mexico City's Marco Antonio Periban (19-0, 12 knockouts) and Colombian Samuel Miller (25-6, 22 KOs), of La Habra, Calif., has been elevated to the main event from Grand Oasis Resort in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico that will be broadcast on Fox Deportes in the United States and Televisa in Mexico.
Also, in a junior featherweight co-feature, Mazatlan's recent world title challenger Alberto Guevara (16-1, 6 KOs), of will face Jose Alfredo Tirado (18-10, 11 KOs), of Culiacan, who is stepping in to replace Jesus Jimenez after the latter failed to make weight.
